Northern Style Traditional Thai Massage
This comprehensive course of 85 hours is taught in two segments:
Foundation 1: Five days
Foundation 2: Five days plus 1 practicum day
You will get trained in the classic routine of the Northern style (Nuad-Bo-Rarn) Nuad means to touch with the intention of imparting healing and Bo-Rarn is a Sanskrit word meaning something that is ancient and revered. This eleven days training is a very good place to start to get a strong foundation in Thai Massage. This classic style derives from the Shivago Kormapaj lineage taught at the Old Chiang Mai hospital and ITM in Thailand.
You will learn all four positions starting with supine in Foundation 1, then side line position, prone and seated in Foundation 2. You need both foundation courses in order to perform a full body massage and in order to get a certificate.
As mindfulness is the most essential attribute of an exceptional Thai Massage practitioner, each day starts with thirty minutes to one hour of yoga, QiGong, stretching, Ruesri Dat Ton or meditation.
The course is mostly hands-on. You will learn about 130 techniques which is three to four times more than needed to create a 90 minute session giving you creative alternatives to customize your session. Francine, your instructor, emphasizes on the practitioner’s body alignment while performing the techniques to ensure that students are receiving maximum benefit to their own bodies. In addition to learning the Thai Massage form, you will learn about:
• Thai Massage history
• Self-care tips for the Thai Massage practitioner
• Tips on how to start and finish a session
• Mantra prayers in Sanskrit
• Wind gates
• Sen lines
• Working stances
• Contra-indications
• Transition moves
• From and fluidity of Thai Massage
• Massage routine
• Cultivating Chi
• Meditation
• Breathing exercises and more…
The advantage of studying with Francine is that her classes are small and intimate ensuring maximum learning and attention to the students.
Students will receive a certificate upon completion recognized by Thai Healing Alliance International.
Class size maximum of 12 students.
