Clinical Thai Bodywork
In this powerful and therapeutic treatment, I focus on finding the root cause of your muscle pain or dysfunction.
I start with a postural assessment and orthopedic tests. Muscles that produce specific pain patterns are isolated. Your treatment is customized and is a blend of Thai bodywork and Western techniques.
Clinical Thai Bodywork integrates:
- powerful Thai techniques with a deep understanding of Travell & Simons trigger point therapy
- Aspects of Osteopathy and Asian medicine.
- Post-isometric relaxation, breath, an electric point stimulator, heat in the form of either Thai herbal packs, salve or heat packs may be used during this treatment.
According to several studies and my own experience, the vast majority of pain cases are due to trigger points in muscles.
This treatment is very effective in treating common conditions such as frozen shoulder, carpal tunnel syndrome, headaches, tennis elbow, knee pain, back pain and many others.
At the end of the treatment, Francine will give you tips, remedial exercises or life style suggestions that will empower you on your way to wellness.
This form of bodywork was created by Chuck Duff, founder of Thai bodywork school of Thai Massage in Chicago and a former student of Claire Davies, author of The trigger point therapy book. This work is scientifically backed by Dr. Janet Travell and Dr. David Simons. I have been studying and practicing Clinical Thai Bodywork since 2011.
Traditional Thai Massage
A full body massage that typically lasts 90 minutes to the sound of instrumental Asian music. This is the treatment to get if you just want to zone out and replenish your body. Here you are getting not only a massage, but also an experience. As Francine performs the treatment, she also is assessing your body and getting information to share with you at the end of the session.
Luk Pra Kob
Luk Pra Kob means Thai herbal packs and is an ancient treatment used in Thailand. It is applied in conjunction with a regular Thai Massage treatment or Clinical Thai bodywork.
A blend of indigenous Thai medicinal herbs like turmeric, yellow Siamese ginger, lemon grass, kaffir lime leaves, prai and camphor are wrapped in a light cloth and heated in a steamer. The warm compress is then applied to tense muscles and stiff joints for the relief of inflammation and muscular aches. It aids in circulation and nourishes and softens the skin. Typically, a Thai massage therapist will not only place a compress to the affected area, but will also work on Sen lines (energy channels) throughout the body to assist the body’s natural healing processes.
Traditional Thai Medicine
This treatment focuses on imbalances in the body elements and is more energetic in nature. Based on ancient rural practices from Thailand with Buddhist aspects, this Thai Massage treatment is customized to bring balance. Usually, a lot of stomach work is done. The use of cupping may be used to draw out wind and toxins, and scraping may be used to remove stagnation and blocks.
At the end of the session, I give you suggestions on ways you can adjust your lifestyle to improve your health.
Thai Herbal Steam Tent
Enjoy a personal Thai herbal steam tent using a blend of herbs like turmeric, yellow Siamese ginger, lemon grass, kaffir lime leaves, prai and camphor. The steam tent is excellent for relieving sore muscles and joints, softening the skin and clearing the system. And it’s perfect for relaxing your muscles before a Thai massage treatment.
